FAQ

Common questions

How do I track my shipment?+

Enter your container number, bill of lading, air waybill or parcel reference together with the email address on the booking. We will email you a six-digit verification code. Once verified, you can see the full milestone timeline in your portal.

Why do I need an email code?+

Freight documents can contain commercially sensitive information. The code proves that the person tracking the shipment controls the email address on the booking, without requiring another password.

Which reference numbers can I use?+

Container numbers (four letters and seven digits), bills of lading, air waybills, parcel references and booking numbers issued by Polaris. If you are unsure, contact your coordinator.

How often are milestones updated?+

Our operations team publishes milestones as they are confirmed. When live carrier integrations are enabled, carrier events will flow into the same timeline automatically.

Can I see documents in the portal?+

Yes. Customer-visible documents such as bills of lading, packing lists and customs paperwork appear in the shipment page after you verify your email. Internal documents are never exposed.

What do the Incoterms mean?+

Incoterms define where risk and cost transfer between buyer and seller. Our resources page summarises the common terms used on Ugandan imports and exports.

Incoterms

Who handles what

Incoterms define where cost and risk transfer between buyer and seller. They do not replace a contract; they are shorthand for responsibilities.

CodeMeaning
EXWBuyer collects from the seller's premises. Seller risk ends there.
FOBSeller delivers to the named port and clears export. Risk passes on board.
CFRSeller pays freight to destination port; risk passes on board at origin.
CIFLike CFR, with seller arranging minimum marine insurance.
DAPSeller delivers to the named destination, ready for unloading. Buyer clears import.
DDPSeller handles delivery, import clearance and duties. Maximum seller obligation.

Always confirm the agreed Incoterm, named place and version (Incoterms 2020) in your sales contract.
